‘Positive attitude, key to business survival’

Details A management training expert, Mr Jude Ndu, of the BD Training/Enterprises Development, Lagos, has described attitude as the main component required for growing businesses and meeting the long-term survival goal of organisations.

He made the observation on Tuesday while delivering a lecture entitled: “Aligning Attitude with Optimal Sales Performance,” at the June edition of the quarterly in-house seminar for staff of the African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc, publishers of the Tribune titles, at the Tribune House Annexe, Imalefalafia, Ibadan.

Highlighting effective inter-personal communication skills, quality services, desire to serve clients, goal setting, positive self-perception and good appearance as attitudes that could help to nurture businesses, he said that global dynamics in business emphasised marketing and sales rather than production.

Ndu said that for a product to appeal to customers, it must be consistent in quality, distinctive in appearance/form and relevant to the needs of clients/customers, especially in the face of strong competition among many brands.

He noted that employees would contribute more to the fortunes of organisations if they perceived themselves as owners of the business rather than passive players in the area of decision making. This, he stated, would allow the employees to develop positive mental attitude and come out with suggestions to move the business forward.
He enjoined all employees to focus more on the area of self-development, saying that it would equip them with tools to meet present and potential organisational challenges.
In his address, the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of ANN Plc, Reverend Sam Adesua, stated that the organisation was poised to enhance the value of its employees through regular training programmes.
